Annotation
In the past
several years as a result of political consolidation and economic
growth the Russian society has paid more and more attention to such
topics as identity, the nature and status of Russian civilization,
the role of Russia on the European continent, the prospects of
relations between Russian and the European Union. On 12 March 2008
r. the Institute of Europe organised an international Conference
"Russia and Europe: Issues of Identity". Among participants there
were well-known Russian and foreign political scientists, experts
and politicians. Their reports formed the basis of this collective
work.
Does Russia follow its unique way of development? Does it belong to
the European civilization or is it on her own? Is Russia an eastern
part of the West or a western part of the East? How can the
stagnation in the Russia-EU relations be overcome? On the following
pages you will find an attempt to reply to these and other exciting
questions. |
