Annotation
The basis of the
following book is formed by the round-table discussion "The
Conservatives and the Liberals: common and peculiar features", held
in the Institute of Europe in November 21, 2007 with scientists and
experts from the several humanitarian institutes of the Russian
Academy of Sciences and Moscow Higher School lecturers as
participants. Problems of liberalism, conservatism, Christian
democracy evolution, historical way and modern activities of the
right-oriented parties and their political future in the XXI century
are among the principal topics of the present publication. The
research covers the absolute majority of the West and East European
countries, and the countries of the Mediterranean area. The book is
supposed to satisfy the readers' interest in the actual themes of
the present. It is intended both for specialists in international
law or affairs and for people professionally concerned with the
contacts with countries of the European Union, including the
