Annotation

Institute of Europe of Russian Academy of Sciences and Council for social studies have organized the 27th of April 2007 the international round table «Migrants: social adaptation and conflicts». Experts of Russian Academy of Sciences, representatives of international organizations, official representatives of state institutions as well as representatives of civil society took part in the round table.

Participants of the round table have gone into the question of vector and quality of migrant streams in Europe, perspectives and consequences of mass migration in European continent. Also the reasons and forms of the current migration (including labor migration, illegal migration and unwilling resettlement) were studied too. The migrant problems in Russia were studied in the context of global migration processes. The special accent was done on the process of social adaptation including conditions of labor contract, language study, vocational training and participation in the political and social life. The analyses of conflicts such as social, ethnic, religious, etc. were also done. The participants of the round table paid special attention to the possibility of the other countries experience application in Russia.
