The problem of foreign trade links development between Russia and the European Union is considered in the monograph. It is the most important and interesting subject particularly dealing with the EU-extension in May 2004.

Interest to this theme is based on fact, among other new member-states of the EU there are some East European countries - former centrally planned economies, besides that a number of states -former republics of the Soviet Union, [n accordance with these features a forward development of bilateral foreign trade ties becomes the most important economic problem for all the countries of the region.

The author analyzes in detail such aspects of the problem as special features of socio-economic development of the Russian Federation on the stage of market transformation and member-states of the EU during the latest extension period, dynamics and structure of the foreign trade directions of the RF and the EU including bilateral links. The common experience of foreign trade developments on a new stage of evolution within 1992 - 2004 is carried out.

On the basis of his analysis I. S. Gladkov offers to evaluate the prospects of bilateral economic ties the RF- the EU.
